Agricultural history teachers attend the 8th International Conference of East Asian Archaeological Society

FromJune 8 to 11,2018,the Eighth International Conference of the society for East AsianArchaeology was held in Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University. Theconference was hosted by Nanjing University and the East AsianArchaeological Association (SEAA). More than 400 archaeologists andstudents from all over the world attended the conference. Dr. YuGege, our teacher, was invited to attend the conference.

LuJian, President of Nanjing University, Francis, President of EastAsian archaeological society and professor of Indiana University,Pennsylvania, Francis Allard, Liu Shuguang, deputy director of theState Administration of cultural heritage, Wang Wei, member of theacademic department of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences andPresident of the Chinese archaeological society, Fang Hui, Dean ofthe school of history and culture of Shandong University, He Yunao,Professor of the school of history of Nanjing University, ZhangSheng, Dean of the school of history of Nanjing University and otherleaders and scholars attended the opening ceremony and deliveredspeeches successively. The opening ceremony was presided over byZhang Liangren, Professor of the school of history of NanjingUniversity。

Atthe end of the opening ceremony, the keynote speech was held. Theconference specially invited famous British archaeologist, ProfessorJessica Rawson of Oxford University, Professor Miyamoto of KyushuUniversity, researcher Fang Qin, director of Hubei Institute ofcultural relics and archaeology, and researcher Liu Bin, director ofZhejiang Institute of cultural relics and archaeology. Since theafternoon of August 8, the conference has entered into a specialdiscussion segment, focusing on the origin of agriculture, luxurygoods production, migration and integration of nomadic people,regional interaction and Silk Road exchanges and other regional hotissues, and set up 36 discussion topics to share the latest researchresults and explore the past and future of Archaeology in East Asia.

Mr.Yu Gege participated in the discussion topic entitled "geography,topography, and landscape: alternative perspectives on tomb burialpractice in the Tang Song transition", submitted and read outthe conference paper "the influence of geography principles onthe selection methods of tombs in the Song Dynasty", whicharoused heated discussion among the participants.
