From January 2 to 3, 2020, under the leadership of Professor He Fangyao and Professor Zhong Haiyan, all the students of the 2019 graduate students of History Department of China and science and technology visited Yangjiang, Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum and Yangxi Jingye Temple successively.
Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum is the first special underwater archaeological museum in China, which focuses on the excavation, protection, display and research of the ancient shipwreck Nanhai I in Song Dynasty and shows the dynamic process of underwater archaeological site excavation. On February 2, teachers and students visited the exhibition area with the theme of sailing, sinking, exploration, water, value and achievements, focusing on the history and value of the sinking of Nanhai I, so that students have a more specific understanding of the maritime civilization in Yangjiang area. Then, Mr. Shi Junhui of the underwater archaeology team introduced the archaeological work of Nanhai I in detail for the teachers and students on the spot, and answered the questions about Nanhai I from the teachers and students.

After the visit, the teachers and students had a cordial exchange with the staff of Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum. Zeng Chaoqun, the director of the museum, first extended a warm welcome to the teachers and students of our institute, and then introduced the achievements and future planning of Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum. Professor he Fangyao thanked the staff of the museum for their warm reception and put forward his own suggestions for the development of Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum. Professor he Fangyao, Professor Zhong Haiyan and other teachers reached several consensus on future exchanges and cooperation with Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum. After the discussion, Professor He Fangyao presented gifts to the museum on behalf of the college.

On March 3, teachers and students came to Jingye temple, Yangxi County, Guangdong Province. Jingye temple, founded in the Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty, is one of the Buddhist resorts in Guangdong Province, with a long history of Buddhist culture. Under the leadership of the abbot and Abbot of Jingye temple, the teachers and students visited the Tianwang hall, Luohan hall, Guanyin hall and other buildings in the temple, and used lunch in the temple to intuitively learn various aspects of Buddhist knowledge.

This practical teaching activity enables teachers and students to understand the underwater archaeology technology and the maritime civilization of Yangjiang area on the one hand, and on the other hand to truly experience the Buddhist civilization characteristics of Jingye temple in Yangxi. This practical teaching activity has been greatly supported by Yangjiang Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum and Yangxi Jingye temple.
